OFFERING ONLINE THERAPY FOR EATING DISORDERS, ANXIETY, OCD + TRAUMA
Are you sick and tired of struggling alone? Feel like there is no way out of your eating disorder or obsessive compulsive disorder? Maybe you are going through a difficult life transition or have recently experienced a traumatic event- either way I am here to help! I tailor my approach to fit your individual needs and believe our relationship is one of the most important components to your healing. I have years of professional experience in a variety of settings including outpatient, inpatient, residential treatment centers, schools and private practice. I am fully recovered myself, which helps my clients feel like they can relate. I know first hand what it's like to struggle and it's my mission to help my clients find the same freedom I have. I utilize an integrated approach to healing including humanistic, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (ERP). I view things both through an individual and systems lens- as I believe systems of oppression shape our mental health in a myriad of ways. Are you ready to reclaim your life?
Professional + Lived Experience
I’m Allyson Ford, a licensed therapist (LPCC 8880) based in San Diego, California. I provide virtual services all throughout California.
I specialize in treating eating disorders, anxiety, OCD, trauma and life transitions. I have extensive professional training, experience in a variety of settings as well as lived experience. I have personally recovered from my own eating disorder and OCD- so I know first hand what it is like to struggle. My clients take comfort knowing they can come to me judgement free and find the healing they need.
Social justice is an integral part of my work and I operate from a Health at Every Size lens. I identify as an intersectional therapist, which means I strive to affirm and warmly welcome your intersecting identities, which include sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, race, ability, and class. My pronouns are she/her/hers and I come from a mixed race background.
I have several cost friendly courses on Eating Disorder Recovery and The Mixed Race Experience if you are looking for more than therapy. I also offer many free resources on my instagram @bodyjustice.therapist and my podcast Body Justice on Apple and Spotify.
“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face and do the thing you think you cannot do.”
